As Love Island returns to our screens – which couples from all three series are still together?
Time to cancel your social lives and fire up the Whatsapp groups – Love Island is nearly back, and we cannot wait. A dozen singles have been confirmed to enter the villa on Monday night, including an A&E doctor, a cabin crew member and Danny Dyer’s daughter. And they all have one thing in common – they’re looking for love. (Or fame. Or sex. But definitely one of the three.) This is the fourth series of the ITV2 dating show, with 81 islanders having entered the villa in the pursuit for romance.
But not everyone has been able to go the distance, with many couples splitting up after leaving the confines of the Majorcan villa – and some breaking up while still on the island. Couples like Scott Thomas and Kady McDermott, Rykard Jenkins and Rachel Fenton, and Gabby Allen and Marcel Somerville all gave it a good go, but there are only five couples still going strong. So who has gone the distance?
Luis and Cally met in the very first series of Love Island back in 2015, with Cally stealing Luis’ heart when she entered the villa in week three. The couple reached the final but lost out to winners Jess Hayes and Max Morley (who split shortly after the show ended). But they’re the real winners, as three years on, they’re still together. Luis and Cally even welcome the first Love Island baby in May 2017, a little girl called Vienna. The couple split two months after Vienna’s arrival, but have since reunited, and celebrated their daughter’s first birthday last
And onto the other Love Island parents. Cara and Nathan were together from day one in the Love Island 2016 villa, coupling up on the first day and becoming boyfriend and girlfriend in the house. Their adorable relationship saw them sailing to the final and taking the crown – and the £50,000 cash prize. We were all heartbroken when the pair called it quits in April 2017 – and things got even more complicated when Cara announced she was pregnant with Nathan’s baby the following month. But in November, the pair had officially got back together, and they welcomed their first son Freddie-George in December. So far, they’re the only Love Island winners to stay together.
Olivia and Alex had a rocky road to romance. Liv failed to find love in the first few weeks of Love Island 2016, coupling up with Dan, Javi, Rykard and Adam to no avail. So her eyes lit up when hunky Alex entered the villa. Unfortunately, this soured slightly when on the first night, Alex slept with Zara Holland, and more spanners were thrown in the works with the introduction of stripper Liana. However, they made it work, and came second in the competition behind Cara and Nathan. And this pair will be the first Mr & Mrs from the show, as Alex proposed to Liv just months after they left the villa. The couple are set to get married later this year – Olivia is currently on her hen do in Ibiza – and their wedding will be filmed for TLC.
Poor Camilla didn’t have an easy ride in the villa last year. She started her journey with Sam Gowland, before she moved onto Jonny Mitchell, who argued with her about feminism and then dumped her for Tyla Carr. Then came in Creepy Craig Lawson, who was determined to win over the nation’s sweetheart. However, her knight in shining armour arrived in the form of Calvin Klein model Jamie, with the pair hitting it off and coming second in the finale behind Amber Davies and Kem Cetinay. And it warms our hearts that Camilla and Jamie are going strong – they’ve even gone on charity missions together.
Perhaps the most surprising couple to still be going strong are 2017 pairing Jess and Dom. Dom seemed committed to Montana Brown at the beginning of the show, but soon abandoned her for bombshell model Jess, with the couple giving into their passions in the hideaway. Jess was dumped from the island in week three along with Muggy Mike Thalassitis, and there were rumours that the two islanders got it on in the hotel. However, when Dom left in week five, the couple reunited and embarked on a romance marked by his and hers #spon posts and magazine shoots. They even got engaged three months after leaving the villa, and staged a wedding on Good Morning Britain on Valentine’s Day. They’re not technically married yet, but Jess and Dom are still going strong, #spon deals and all.
